Summer is finally upon us, and that means a few things: swimming, grilling, and hot weather. Hot weather means it’s time to break out the summer clothes! After having a baby, a lot of my old summer clothes don’t fit me. Plus, the baby is growing like a weed. We needed new clothes for all the fun we have planned this summer. Buying a whole new wardrobe for one person is expensive, but for me AND the baby? It was going to be pricey. When Swap.Com approached us about writing a style post for them, I was intrigued. I shop at consignment stores pretty often, and I shop online a lot, but I had never tried an online consignment store. It seemed like the best of both worlds!
Now, a fun fact about me is that I love coordinating with the baby. We have lots of matching outfits! I know that she won’t go along with mommy and me outfits for too long, so I’ve got to get them out of my system while I still can. Since Swap carries clothes for men, women, and kids, I had visions of coordinating everyone in the family! My husband is, unfortunately, able to pick his own clothing, so I wound up just making some outfits for me and the baby.
I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of brands represented on Swap.com! I wound up sticking to brands I knew and trusted, like Old Navy, Gymboree, Banana Republic, and Carter’s. Since I knew our sizes in these brands, I didn’t need to consult the size chart, but Swap.com conveniently has an information page for each brand. Perfect in case you’re stepping outside your comfort zone! Anyway, without further ado, let’s look at what I came up with!
1. Picture Perfect: pictured at top of post
Family pictures are hard to style for. You don’t want to look too match-y, but you don’t want to be boring, and you definitely don’t want to clash. When I saw this baby skirt, I knew that it would look perfect on my toddler! After just a few minute’s browsing, I found a similar one in adult size. Jenna topped off her outfit with a bright tank top, while I added a cami and blouse. Plus, check out my cute sandals! We’re ready for our close-up.
2. Wild and Free:
There are few things I love more than a cute graphic tee, so when I saw this “wild” tee, I had to grab it. Paired with a pair of denim shorts and sandals, I’m ready for anything from running errands to dinner with friends. Jenna is styling in a pink romper with white trim– it’s a boho chic look for baby! Who doesn’t love a good romper?
3. Mellow Yellow:
We spend a lot of time at the park. I like to look cute while I’m there, but this is no time for fancy clothes. That’s why a pair of denim shorts pair perfectly with this pink tribal print shirt with yellow accents! To add to our sunny vibe, the baby is rocking a yellow romper. The shorts are long enough to keep her from getting stuck to the slide, and the bright yellow makes her stand out on the playground. We’re both cute, but functional.
The best part? I got all of the clothes I mentioned, plus a few more, for less than $100. Many of the clothes were like new, with tags still on. With deals like that, we can get a new wardrobe every season! It took me a few tries to get the hang of searching on Swap.com. At first, I felt like there were way too many clothes to narrow down my choices! (That’s not necessarily a bad problem to have.) Once I got the hang of it, I was able to find exactly the style and size of clothing I wanted, which made my decisions way easier. When you use Swap.com, you need to go at it with a plan!
Jenna and I had a lot of fun modeling our outfits, but we’ll be having more fun playing and traveling in them this summer. I can rest easy knowing that even if she has a growth spurt soon, I can keep her happy and stylish without dragging her to the mall. Uh, that’s a mom win.
