I am all about having an occasional specialty themed family night. Over the years we’ve had an Alfresco Garden Party, an outdoor movie night, a popcorn bar night, and, my personal favorite, an ice cream sundae bar night. Then there are the other times. Those are the days when I want to make something special but don’t have the energy or motivation. It’s all about finding balance, am I right?
This is a partnered post with Kabillion. All opinions are my own.
On our recent family night, I needed something special. In deference to the three-year-old, we watched an episode of My Little Pony as part of the fun. That’s when I came up with the idea of My Little Pony Party Mix. This easy recipe has four ingredients, is no-bake, and is gluten-free. Younger kids can help mix it up and older kids can make the recipe themselves.
My Little Pony Party Mix Recipe
Not only is it the perfect mixture of sweet and salty, but it also takes only minutes to make. Experiment by using different colors of candy melts to match your kid’s favorite pony color.
Printable Recipe:
- 1 bag microwave popcorn in your favorite flavor
- 1 cup peanuts
- 1 ½ cups candy melts in the color of your choice
- ¼ cup multicolor sprinkles
- Pop the microwave popcorn following the directions on the package. Place the popcorn in a large bowl. Remove any uncooked kernels.
- Stir in peanuts.
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt candy melts for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir. If the candy melts are not melted, return them to the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and stir.
- Add the melted candy melts to the peanut and popcorn mixture.
- Add the sprinkles and stir.
- Spread the party mix onto a piece of waxed paper. Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
- Store the My Little Pony Party Max in an airtight container.
Cooking Tip:
*To remove kernels easily, pour the popcorn into a strainer. The kernels should sink to the bottom, making it easy to scoop the cooked popcorn into a large bowl.
*Experiment with the ingredients in your party mix. You can substitute different types of nuts for the peanuts, or add in M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, or Gummy Candies.
