Partying with Spiderman

We’ve spent the last eight Halloween evenings at a friend’s house, having dinner, trick or treating and visiting the occasional haunted house. “You’re all coming over Halloween, aren’t you?” my friend asked, “After all, it’s a tradition.” “We do want to spend Halloween with you,” I responded, “But do you mind if we do something different this year? I want to host a Spider-man party!”

I pre-ordered The Amazing Spider Man Blu-Ray, DVD, Ultra Violet Combo Package
When I discovered The Amazing Spider-man was being released on DVD or blu-ray November 9th, I rushed to Walmart to pre-order my copy.  While I was picking up my copy I learned about a new service, Vudu.com, that allows me to stream new movie releases to my television or computer on the same day they are released in stores.  Intrigued,  I read more about the service and liked what I found.   By signing up for a free account I never had to worry about searching around town trying to find the new movie and I only paid for the movies I watched.  This sounded good but the best part was learning by pre-ordering, I’d be able to stream Spider-man on my Vudu account beginning on October 30th, ten days before it arrived in stores.  This seemed like the perfect fit for a Halloween themed event.   After all, we have spiders and costumes, what more could you want?
Market Side Pizza has The Amazing Spider Man Augmented Reality App
I picked up some goodies from Walmart to serve at our meal.  This Marketside Pizza caught my eye with it’s colorful Spider-man theme.  The box contained an augmented reality app we could use in the store with our iPad, iPhone, or android to trigger special Spider-Man experiences.  How much more fun is it when you can shop with Spider-man?  I picked up cheese sticks, Oreos to make spiders, spooky cupcake wrappers and Spider-man plates and napkins. We were ready to party!

The kids had a lot of fun decorating the spiders even if they didn’t turn out to look remotely Spider like.  I decided to let them draw spider eyes and mouths with gel, but the only colors I had were neon pink and green.  Our White Chocolate Cream filled cupcakes with Caramel frosting turned out well, although I thought the frosting tasted a little like pancake syrup.

Getting Ready for some Serious Snacking

After dinner we settled down to watch the movie and pass out candy to trick or treaters.  It was a lot of fun seeing the kids in their different costumes, but they always seemed to ring the doorbell when we were getting to an exciting part.  We had to take turns answering the door so we wouldn’t miss the movie.  We had such a good time we’re already planning what movie we can see next Halloween.
