Earlier this year I mentioned how much I hated my patio. I had waited years for a redo and this was the year. I tore down the ugly cement wall surrounding our patio and was determined to expand, remodel and redo. Then, my daughter decided to get married, in six weeks, with me as the wedding planner. As you can imagine, my plans went right down the drain and the project was placed on hold. Now the wedding is over and I am back, more determined than ever, to have the patio of my dreams! Or, at the very least, to no longer have the patio of my nightmares.
I have a vision of expanding and turning this into an herb garden with a tranquil fountain in the middle and a comfy chair on other end; a chair I can slip outside in the evening in my spare time(!) and sit and relax. Here’s what it looks like now. I know, I know, it needs work.
We are preparing to start our patio redo (again!) next week. In the meantime, I have the tranquil fountain and this comfy extra wide textured vinyl outdoor cushioned recliner sitting by a tree in my back yard, allowing me to pretend my patio is done. I have noticed other people in my family have also gone outside and sat in the chair to relax. I tried taking a book outdoors and was interrupted. It has not stopped me from attempting to take a moment for myself!
Be warned: The chair does come unassembled and requires a couple of hours to complete. Once complete, we found we really liked the style and can see this being a great addition to the patio. I can even see purchasing another chair and placing a small table between them for a cozy tete-a-tete area. While I think the chair is comfy, my daughter told me, “These cushions are firmer than I expected.” Since we have been having almost daily thunderstorms, I appreciate the convenient waterproof cover that came with the chair. No one wants to sit down in a puddle!

We just did a huge expansion last summer, I still love the difference it made. Now I can fit more than a table on there!
