I am occasionally asked to appear on a local television channel to prepare a recipe. I’m always thrilled to do this because I love sharing tasty, easy recipes with others. The only problem is I am not allowed to choose the recipe. Instead, I prepare the recipe I am assigned. My latest appearance was centered around a Peach and Pineapple Smoothie recipe. I decided it needed a little more “oomph” and changed it up a little.
Peach and Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
With all the summer recipes to choose from I wasn’t sure why I needed to make a Smoothie recipe. Was it because smoothies are considered a refreshing treat in the summer? Because they use fruits associated with summer? Who knew? I decided to dig for answers.
I discovered June is the month to celebrate pineapples and smoothies. Since 2017, National Pineapple Day has been celebrated on June 1st. As for smoothies, they have a day to themselves on June 21st. And, if you are like me, you are probably wondering, “When did National Smoothie Day and National Pineapple Day become a thing?”
I like this recipe because it is naturally gluten-free and vegetarian. But, the best thing about this recipe is how easy it is to swap ingredients. Don’t have fresh peaches or pineapple on hand? Use canned or frozen. Don’t have honey? Use agave. Instead of milk, use coconut or almond milk. If you don’t enjoy one of the fruits, substitute another. Experiment to find the perfect taste for you!

*Pineapple-Mango Smoothie- Omit the peaches called for in the recipe below. Add an equal amount of chopped mango.
*Peach-Pineapple-Banana Smoothie- Use the same recipe as below, but add in one sliced banana.
*Peach-Mango-Pineapple Smoothie- Use the same recipe as below, but add in 1 cup chopped mango.
Cooking Tips:
Before using fresh fruit in the recipe, chop it to the desired thickness. Then, place the fruit in the freezer until it is at least partially frozen. (30 minutes to an hour.)
The easiest way to do this is to chop several batches of fruit at once and store them in the freezer until needed.
Want to make this recipe Vegan? Omit the plain Greek yogurt, milk, and honey. Substitute an equal amount of vegan plain Greek yogurt, agave nectar, and coconut or almond milk.

This recipe is a delicious way to beat the heat this summer. Plus, it’s a quick and easy breakfast. If you need an extra excuse for enjoying this recipe, June 21st is also National Selfie Day. Why not invite a few friends over, have a smoothie party, and snap some pics?
What is your favorite smoothie recipe?
This sounds like it would be the perfect combination of flavors. Sometimes pineapple can be a little strong, and it is nice to have the peach to balance out the acidity of the pineapple.
