My name is Pam and I am a soda addict. Sure, I’ve used a million excuses to justify my large consumption of soda; I only drink diet, It’s my only vice.  You name it, I’ve said it.  With the new school year approaching and my daughter having to quit drink soda for medical reasons, I wanted to completely switch our routine and try to kick the  caffeine fueled soda habit, which my husband claims has been single handedly funding a major soda company for years.   Since I live in the South where iced tea is king, I decided to make the switch to incorporate more herbal tea into our routine.  A quick trip to Walmart opened my eyes to all the different varieties.  You can see my shopping trip on my Google Plus album.  I found myself staring at the Bigelow Tea and imagining all the recipes I could create and all the flavors I could use with my meals.

Bigelow Tea has so many different varieties.

My first thought was for afterschool snacks.  What would tempt the kids when they arrived home from school, tired, hot and hungry?  I saw a recipe for popsicles using green tea and decided to create a more kid friendly version.  I think these Peachy Lemon Pops are good for kids and adults!

After the success with the popsicles, I decided to make a smoothie we could drink on the hectic mornings when we have to rush out the door without breakfast.  I used Orange & Spice tea and half of the family liked it and the other half didn’t like having a mixture of spices in their smoothie.  Personally, I could drink this several mornings a week.

Orange Spice Smoothie Recipe

1 Orange and Spice Tea Bag
4 cups boiling water
2 cups Orange Creme Yogurt
1/2 cup mandarin orange slices, drained

Directions:
Steep tea in boiling water for 10 minutes. Place two cups Orange and Spice tea, Orange Creme Yogurt and mandarin oranges in blender. Blend 20 seconds or until smooth. Serve immediately.

My daughter is wearing her “Tea Drinking Hat.”

I’ve been including tea in our on the go routine too. When we are rushing out the door I add the flavored tea of their choice to a reusable container for refreshment on the go. It’s much cheaper than stopping for a drink at a convenience store or fast food joint.

Are you looking for fun summer ideas to do with your family while sipping your Bigelow Tea?
