Peanut Butter and Pretzels Hearts

Peanut butter is a staple at our house. If you look in our pantry you’ll see a massive jar. The baby eats it by the spoonful. One of the running jokes between some of my friends is if I post about anything other than peanut butter pie, they ask me what happened to my just desserts.  I use it in so many dessert recipes someone asked, “Does your family live on peanut butter?”  The answer? No, but we are working toward it!

I created this recipe to satisfy a peanut butter craving one day.  If you need a last minute snack for Valentine’s Day, these easy no-bake peanut butter and pretzel hearts could be just the thing! If you have an allergy to peanut butter, you can substitute almond butter or even leave it out. These treats will be tasty no matter how they are made.

How to Make Peanut Butter and Pretel Hearts

To make the hearts you’ll only need four ingredients; peanut butter, white chocolate bark or white chocolate chip, pretzel sticks and chocolate covered candies  (like M&Ms). If you need them to be gluten-free, simply use gluten-free pretzels. Be sure to use pretzel sticks in this recipe, they’re easier to break into small pieces.

The recipe has a hands-on time of fewer than fifteen minutes. Begin by breaking the pretzel sticks into pieces. Melt the white chocolate bark in a microwave safe bowl for approximately 45 more seconds. Stir and return to the microwave for 45 more seconds. Stir until smooth.

Once the chocolate is melted, immediately add the pretzels, peanut butter and M&M’s. Stir until the mixture is combined. Spoon the peanut butter mixture into mini heart shaped silicone molds.  Mine are made by Wilton and can be purchased at a craft store like Michael’s or on Amazon.  (Thrifty tip: Also, if you stop by your favorite thrift store or resale shop, look in their holiday section. I found my brand new  still in the package set for 69 cents.) Be sure to fill the cups to the top to ensure they actually look like hearts.
