Radian RXT 3 in 1 Carseat Review

Recently, I’ve been watching a friend’s kid while my friend works. It works out, because her kid is Jenna’s best friend, and they love spending time together during the day. Having two kids during the week means that I needed a second car seat, and it was Diono to the rescue. When they offered to let us have a Radian RXT 3-in-1 car seat in exchange for an honest review, I was thrilled. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Diono from friends who love the brand.

The Radian RXT is a 3-in-1 car seat which can work for your baby from birth to booster. I can’t vouch for the infant car seat part of it, because A is approaching three years old and forward facing. However, I can tell you that this car seat has a full steel frame, which is built to withstand severe crash forces. This makes it a little heavier than other car seats, which did make it harder to install. However, safety is more important than convenience when it comes to your kids, and the easy Latch System made it a bit easier.

The best thing about this car seat is definitely the size. Despite its steel frame, it has a compact design that allows you to place it three across in most mid-size vehicles. With two car seats in the backseat, space is at a premium, so every inch counts. Despite the compact size of the Radian RXT, it also looks to be one of the most comfortable car seats I’ve ever come across. The seat is memory foam, so it confirms to your kid for maximum comfort. Since switching A to the Diono Radian RXT, temper tantrums about car trips has been reduced to a minimum. I really like that her head doesn’t fall over while she’s sleeping now! She likes the angled cup holder which always keeps her sippy within easy reach.

The straps are easy to get over A’s arms and the buckles are surprisingly easy to buckle, yet totally toddler-resistant. My mom, who hates buckling kiddos into their car seats and usually pushes the task off on anyone else she can find, loves the Diono Radian car seat for its simplicity. She doesn’t mind taking A in or out of the car seat anymore, which makes running errands a lot easier! It is also lower than most car seats, which lets A get in and out of it on her own. All we have to do is buckle or unbuckle, and she can climb in or out of it by herself! If you’ve ever had a toddler, you know how much they value their independence, so I’m all for letting them feel a little more in control of their world.

We can’t wait to make our first long road trip with the Diono Radian RXT 3-in-1 car seat. Actually, we’re planning on flying to Colorado later this year, and we’re going to be taking advantage of the fact that this car seat folds flat for easy travel. Then it will be easy to unfold it for travel around Colorado with my best friend!

  1. I remember when I was looking for a carseat for my baby and it was so difficult to choose and to understant which one is best. I am sure your review will help a lot of moms to choose their favorite kid’s carseat.

Nothing is more important than a car seat that is properly installed and one that is made to specs and with tops safety in mind. Working in EMS I have seen children saved by their car seats and I advocate for reviews of them since that is how other moms know which ones are worth putting their child in and ones to stay away from.

  3. I haven’t heard of this brand. We tend to go with Graco but I love seeing the other brands and deciding others that may be good alternatives.

  4. That looks like a really great carseat. I would buy that one if I had a younger kiddo.

  5. Diono is actually my all-time favourite car seat brand. This looks amazing, and we have 2 of their others so I’d love to grab this one up too for when babe is bigger!

  6. This car seat looks very promising! I definitely will check this out and share to my husband as this just might be what we need for our son.

  7. this car seat looks super durable and like it would last the entire time of need. looks very comfortable as well

  8. It looks very comfortable! I would send this info to a friend who has small kids, sounds like a good one.

  9. Back in my day, kids didn’t have car seats like this. I love that there’s more than one uses with this one. It looks safe enough that I’d be willing to use it with my grandkids.

  10. You cannot get a car seat without making sure the safety is spectacular. Glad too see such a great car seat, with great safety ( and looks super comfy) on your site. Thank you for sharing

The Diono carseat looks like a must buy. I don’t own one. However, if I had smaller children I surely would invest in one.

  12. Convertible carseats were definitely a great investment for us given we had 3 in car seats at the same time. I can’t imagine buying a car seat for a newborn/infant then upgrading to a toddler one and then to a booster.

  13. Now this sounds like a good car seat, it is amazing all the different things that you need to think about when buying such equipment for your child.

  14. Diono wasn’t out when my boys were small. It’s so important that a car seat be safe and well designed. The cushions on this one looks like they’re thick and comfortable.

My sister-in-law is looking for a new person for their toddler. This will be something that I have to share with her! It might be just what she’s looking for.

  16. It does appear a lot more compact than regular carseats for babies. It also looks secure which can really give you peace of mind when kids are on-board. – Franc

  18. I’m impressed with this car seat. I haven’t heard of this brand before, but it sounds and looks great!

  19. That is a great carseat. THREE of my sisters in law just had babies, so they are all going to be needing one of these soon.
