It’s summer in the South; the land of heat and humidity. Whether it’s a humid day with no breeze in sight or a cozy evening relaxing on my patio, I dream of sipping summer-themed drinks. Fresh, fruity concoctions served with a straw and an umbrella, preferably frozen. Sipping my drink at the beach would be even but I’ll take what I can get. One of our favorite summertime sips is this non-alcoholic Sangria Mocktail recipe. The entire family can enjoy this drink or it can be switched up to become a classic Sangria with a few different ingredients.
Sangria Mocktail Recipe
This naturally gluten-free Sangria Mocktail is the perfect drink for any summer or spring holiday. I began with a recipe for tea punch and adapted it to make mocktails. I use tea with lemon as the base of my mocktail but you can substitute other types of tea.
Substitutes for Tea With Lemon
Note that the flavor will change from the original recipe if you use one of the following teas so choose carefully!
- Black Tea
- Green Tea
- Plain Tea bags (think Lipton or your favorite brand)
- Peach Tea
- Mint Tea
Want to Make it Alcoholic?
Reduce the amount of tea or the lemon-lime soda by two cups and add in any one of the following;
- 2 cups red wine
- 2 cups Prosecco
- 2 cups white wine
- 2 cups brandy
- 2 cups rum
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 8 cups tea– I used a 64-ounce container of Lipton 100% Natural Lemon Iced Tea because it was already prepared, but feel free to use your own favorite tea recipe
- 1 (2-liter) bottle lemon-lime soda
- 1 (12-ounce) container frozen white grape and raspberry concentrate
- 1 (12-ounce) package frozen fruit (I used a mixture of papaya, pineapple, and strawberries)
- Fresh mint leaves, optional
Preparation Tips:
- Adjust the sweetness of the tea to your preferred sweetness- add a small amount of sugar or artificial sweetener if the tea is not sweet enough for you
- Diet lemon-lime soda can be used in this recipe
- If you can’t fine frozen white grape and raspberry concentrate substitute any of the following; white grape juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, pineapple/grape/cherry, apple, cranberry, passionfruit, tart cherry, limeade concentrate, or fruit punch. Just choose your favorite flavor!
- Use whatever frozen fruit or berry you prefer in the recipe.
- Substitute ginger-ale or club soda for the lemon-lime soda if you prefer a recipe that is not as sweet
- Don’t bother to thaw either the fruit or the frozen juice concentrate. This makes the drink slushier and keeps it cold longer.
Variations:
- lemonade concentrate + frozen raspberries + frozen blueberries
- white grape juice + frozen pineapple + frozen peaches
- fruit punch concentrate + frozen blackberries + frozen strawberries
- pineapple, grape, and cherry concentrate + frozen sweet cherries + frozen pineapple
- orange juice concentrate + frozen peaches + frozen pineapple
