My schedule lately has been hectic. With my father in the hospital for over three weeks and my daughter being diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis all my spare time has been spent talking with doctors or visiting various hospitals. The constant appointments have left me with little time to cook and have taken a toll on my food bill. When I do have time to cook, I am usually too tired to bother. We’ve ate out more than I care to admit. That’s why I was thrilled when I received the Ziploc® Brand Vacuum Sealer System. Now, when I have a few minutes to cook I either prepare a double batch and place one in the freezer or make the base of a few dishes I put in the freezer, then thaw overnight and place in the crock pot for the next day.
One of the things I like about the Ziploc® Brand Vacuum Sealer System is how lightweight and portable it is. Counter space is at a premium in my kitchen. I am able to place the system in a cabinet out of the way and grab it whenever I need it. It also uses bags instead of bulky rolls of plastic, again saving me space.
The Ziploc® Brand Vacuum Sealer System is also easy to use. I was always afraid to try vacuum sealing because I was afraid it would be complicated to use and I would either vacuum seal my finger or spent hours cleaning after spraying items around my kitchen. Instead, all I have to do is fill the bag, place the bag onto the vacuum sealer, close the lid by pressing the buttons on each side of the sealer and press the vacuum seal button. Voila! Air tight food ready for the freezer.

I purchase my favorite meat (chicken) in bulk. I divide the chicken into family sized portions and marinade them in different sauces. Some of our favorites are lemon herb marinade or teriyaki sauces. After several hours I drain the sauce and use the Ziploc® Brand Vacuum Sealer System. I place these in the freezer and remove the night before I want to cook them. I also make premade hamburger patties, perfect for grilling season, or crumbled hamburger mixed with taco seasoning or chili powder.
I chop up veggies and mix them together with different seasonings to make quick ingredients for stir-fry, fajitas and soups. Some of my favorite combinations are onions, peppers and Mexican seasoning and water chestnuts, broccoli, cauliflower and lemon pepper seasoning.
I make herbed cubes using 1 cup of fresh chopped herbs and 1 cup butter. I stir the herbs into the butter and freeze in ice cube trays. When the cubes are frozen I vacuum seal the cubes and use the cubes whenever I need fresh herbs in a recipe.

Just received this food sealer today and I am very happy so far. This is my first vacuum food sealer and I’m not sure how I’ve been living without one. We packaged 10 lb of fish and 10 lb of pork right after unboxing. Still have a large amount of beef to take care of. I will update this review if anything changes. BTW, I saw questions regarding an extension for jars, there is a port for one but Nesco does not include it.

I feel a little late to the game for the fact that I had no idea Ziploc even had a food sealer! I need to pay closer attention next time I go to the store since I sure could use one.

I didn’t know that Ziploc had a sealer like this! I have been using their baggies for years because they are my favorite, and now I have to be on the lookout for this food saver!

This would be so great for those that buy in bulk. I like to buy meat this way but don’t care for the freezer burn that you may get without a vacuum sealer.

I’ve had a vacuum saver on my want list for a while. We do a lot of bulk buying and freezer stocking. This would help out so much with keeping things fresh and safe.
These new Ziploc bags look super useful! They would be great for storing leftovers after holiday dinners!

We buy meat in bulk too, but usually just separate and freeze until we need it. I like your idea of marinating and storing in a vacuum sealed bag better!

That’s exactly what I use mine for most often. I buy ground beef in bulk and then divide it up and vacuum seal/freeze it!
Do you know how much the replacement bags are? That’s what deterred me from the food saver.

I have one of their vacuum sealers and haven’t used it in a while. (I think I forgot I had it.) I love to freeze foods, so I’ll have to pull it back out and use it soon!

Funny, my mom had a FoodSaver and hers just died, too. Weird. I told her about this and I think we are both getting one.
I would end up using something like that all the time. I buy meats and things like that in bulk, so I end up separating the big packs into smaller packs and then freezing the smaller portions.
