“This spot where you are standing is where I first met Michael Jackson,” our voice coach at Capitol Records stated, “And here’s where Paul McCarthy recorded. Ok, let’s get to work.” We obediently began to chant, “Swiffer Sweeper, Swiffer Duster, Swiffer Wet Jet! Swiff it up!” “Hmm,” he stated thoughtfully after we finished. “That wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be!” And so ended my dreams of becoming a rapper. Instead, I would remain content to be a Swiffer Fanatic, a group of people who shares their love of Swiffer with the rest of the country. We had gathered in Los Angeles to learn the newest science behind Swiffer products and the newest innovations at the Swiffer “Immersion Event 3.0.” Because who wants to spend all their time cleaning the house?
This is a partnered post with Swiffer. All opinions are my own.
What’s the Scoop on New Swiffer Products?
Do you love your Swiffer Sweeper but wish it was bigger? Enter the Swiffer XL, which is one and a half times larger than a regular sweeper. While XL Dry Clothes have been available for a while, it was a pain to use the wet clothes. There were no clothes designed for this Swiffer so we had to use two regular sized wet clothes and attach them in an overlapping pattern. Not only was it messy, you had unused overlapping portions going to waste. Swiffer’s newest product is the Swiffer XL Wet Clothes, designed to fit the Swiffer XL perfectly. If you haven’t tried a Swiffer XL, it really does make cleaning the floors faster. And I can use those minutes I save to do something fun, like fold laundry. Not.
Swiffer Supports the Community
Over the years I’ve been impressed with Swiffer’s commitment to the community. They believe in giving back and helping others. This year we spent an afternoon with L.A. Family Housing, a coalition dedicated to reducing the homeless population in LA. This is not the typical homeless shelter that offers an overnight stay and a meal. At LA Family Housing they are “committed to our participants’ success in long-term housing stability by connecting supportive services to their housing.” This service seeks to provide comprehensive services in everything from employment support, financial literacy workshops, educational opportunities, substance addiction and health treatment, and youth programs, such as homework tutoring and family counseling.
Participants in the program live onsite with Bridge Housing, a temporary place to stay until permanent housing can be found, Permanent Supportive Housing for Single Adults, and Family Housing. After touring the building we were offered choices of how to help. Some of us packed boxes of Swiffer products to give to residents moving to permanent houses. The rest of us headed to the Bridge Housing Kitchen to serve or make meals and talk to the participants in the program. I left feeling uplifted by the program’s mission and dedication.
Swiffer Supports Animal Rescue
I am a huge animal lover so Swiffer’s commitment to helping pets find homes is near and dear to my heart. I’ve attended adoption events with Swiffer in New York City, and was excited when I learned we would be going to Adopt And Shop in Culver City. Advertised as the “Pet Store with A Purpose,” they offer pet adoptions, pet supplies, grooming and dog daycare, all in one location. All of the pets are rescues from local shelters and because they are non-profit, all of the money received goes back into saving the lives of more pets.
Adopt And Shop is the home of the “Catty Wagon,” a custom-built, mobile adoption vehicle designed just for kittens. Who says you can’t have fun with cats? They also offer a FREE for life microchip registry for any pet across the nation. If your pet ever gets lost or there is an emergency, this can help get your pet back to you quickly and safely. We spent the afternoon making adoption signs and cuddling cats and dogs. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day!
Swiffer Supports Having Fun
Swiffer products are designed to make cleaning easier. When the cleaning is done, it’s time to have fun! We spent time recreating a scene from “Friends” at Warner Brothers Studios and taking a set tour. I also learned a fun fact about television shows. Have you ever seen the extras sitting in the background talking and wondered how they don’t disrupt the scene? Maybe I’m the only one who has thought about this? As an “extra” in our scene from Friends, I sat at a counter and was instructed to “talk to the people around me, moving my lips only and not speaking.” Huh. It looked so real when we watched the take but none of us were saying a word. And who can forget our rendition of “Swiff It Up,” the jingle we produced at Capitol Records? Even we had to agree with our coach. We really didn’t sound as bad as we thought we would.
Swiffer Supports Easier Cleaning
Want to know some tips to clean your house AND save time? Here are some of my favorites.
*Keep a Swiffer Duster in your car. It’s great for keeping dust off the dashboard, seats and, really, any part of the car.
*Use Your Swiffer Duster to quickly clean blinds. Just run the Swiffer Duster over the blinds and see how much dust it picks up.
*Use Your Swiffer Duster to clean your computer. (Recommended: Turn off your monitor first.) Wipe down the monitor and the keyboard and see how much dust it picks up!
*Fun Fact- The green strip on a Swiffer Wet Cloth is a scrubbing strip. It’s made to remove tough dirt and stains.
*Swiffer Pro Tip- The easiest way to attach a Swiffer Wet Cloth is to place the Sweeper into the Wet Cloth Container. Then place the edges of the cloth into the Swiffer Sweeper Grips.
As you can see, it’s easy to be a Swiffer Fanatic. Cleaning, Commitment, and Quality. What more could you want? Do you use Swiffer products? Which one is your favorite?
