As a child I was always at the doctor with colds, flu and asthma related illnesses. I spent so much time at the doctor my mom told him, only half jokingly, “We should just give her a gallon of antibiotics to have on hand.” Once my children were born, they seemed to take after me. We spent so much time at our local physician that I not only have his phone number memorized, we are on a first name basis. Many years ago he recommended we purchase an air purifier. Naturally, I wanted to know why it was a good idea, and found these three reasons.
1. Air Purifiers Help Remove Pet Dander. Hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats. We really don’t have that many, but when they are shedding their fur (or shedding pet dander we don’t see), an air purifier can remove these particles from the air. Plus, we have allergic friends and this helps them be able to visit.
2. Air Purifiers can help people with respiratory problems breathe easier. One of the scariest days of my life was when my daughter turned blue from having an asthma attack. Blue is my favorite color, but not a good shade on humans. Since we never knew what allergens could trigger an attack, having an air purifier to remove them was the first strategy we turned to for preventing attacks.
3. Air Purifiers can help absorb odors. My kids love to cook and help me in the kitchen whenever they get a chance. Cooking with kids involves a learning curve. Things get burnt, things get tossed into the trash that I don’t know about, and things get splattered. It’s a breeding ground for odors. I also have a child going off to college this year. Can you imagine the odors already?
Thanks to AirFree, who sent us an air purifier, my son is taking the AirFree Onix 3000 away to college this fall. This small, portable model not only runs silently, it is developed for a room of up to 450 square feet. Another plus? It requires no maintenance, but still eliminates up to 99.99% (that’s almost 100!) of all air impurities. He can place the AirFree Onix 3000 in a corner and no one will know it is there. Or maybe they will if there is no odors in the room! I’m sad my son is going to be several hours away, but I’ll feel a little better knowing I am helping to keep him well.
Do you use an air purifier?
Yes we do have one. I like this one you have.
I’ve been meaning to get one for the last few years, maybe now I will just go ahead and pick up one for the family. Thanks for the tips.
I actually have an air purifier! I like the hi-tech version of this one!
We don’t have an air purifier, but I wish we did! We have a dog and cat and it would be a tremendous help!
I know I need one! I have been casually looking. I will look into this one
We do use an air purifier. We have a dog, but even though she has hair instead of fur, the dander can be irritating….
I really want an air purifier in our house. I need to clean up the odors in our home.
We don’t — but I really think we need one as we have 2 cats.
I love air purifiers! Only one we have in our house right now is an organic Amber rock that is supposed to clean air when heated! It looks cool lol couldn’t tell you for sure if it worked though!
We just bought a new air purifier for our bedroom and it has been a real game changer. Now I need another one for the downstairs. It has made a real difference in my husband’s allergies.
I could definitely use an air purifier at my house. Pet dander isn’t that big of a deal, but just the daily dirt and dust is really enough to warrant it. I would love to have this one at home!
My kids have allergies and asthma, so an air purifier is a must. Yours looks like a fantastic option.
I haven’t used an air purifier since ours was damaged during a move. I keep meaning to get a new one. This looks like a great company! I’ll have to check them out.
There’s a lot of dust in the air where we live, so an air purifier would definitely help us sleep at night!
I have thought about getting an air purifier. I have also thought about getting a water purifier as well.
I am always on the search for new and innovative ways to create better air quality since my husband is so sensitive. This is a great idea for college dorms because of the size!
My sister and her family have one and I have always wondering the reasons behind it and you gave a great post about the whys!
I’ve been thinking about getting one, simply because of our dogs and their dander. Thanks for giving me another option to consider!
We live in an area that gets a lot of dust, so every room in our home could benefit from an air purifier. One this size would be great for the kids rooms!
That is one really neat looking air purifier. We use one because of allergies and the added benefit of removing smells when I cook something like fish.
There are so many reasons for an air purifier and you nailed them! Our air, no matter how clean we think it is, can always be a little bit purer, I want this product! Would be great, as we sneeze and itch our eyes it makes me wonder what is in the air making us to be like that inside.
Oh my goodness, do we need one! Especially in the winter when all those germs are floating around.
Our last one broke so we do need to get a new one! I haven’t even thought about it so thanks for the reminder, its important for us to pick one up!
I might have to invest in one after all. My daughter’s cat is moving in and I haven’t really had to deal with pet dander before.
We have one but it isn’t the newest model but it does help with dust and pet dander for sure.
We have an old air purifier, and we need to replace it. None of us have terrible allergies or anything, but between all the pollen down here in the south and our pet dog, it’s nice to just keep the air nice and fresh.
We do have one in our home. Between dust and pet dander, I need all the help I can get.
We actually got one recently. We have forced hot air heat and it’s REALLY dusty in the house.
