I’m a huge fan of having someone else cook for me so eating out is a treat. I’m also a fan of saving money, which is why I use Restaurant.Com certificates whenever I have a chance. For a long time, the options in our area were slim. I used the service often when I traveled, but close to home? Not so much. I only had two restaurants within a 30 minute radius. I’m glad to see our area is getting more options, meaning more restaurants for me to try! Recently, on a night I didn’t want to cook, Bryan and I decided to try Tres Amigos restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Tres Amigos is an unpretentious restaurant, located next door to the local CVS, featuring traditional Mexican food. We arrived around five PM on a Tuesday and were shown to a table immediately. The customers kept arriving in a steady stream throughout our meal. The menu is expansive and it took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted. Our waitress served us Chips and a slightly spicy salsa while I browsed.
I finally settled on the Enchiladas Supreme, touted as a “Supreme combination consisting of one shredded chicken, one cheese, one beef and one bean enchilada, topped with supreme sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream.” Bryan chose the Steak Mexican Style fajitas, a combination of T-bone steak topped with Mexican condiments, bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It was served with rice, beans, and three flour tortillas. The menu stated the fajitas would be a 15 to 20 minute wait due to prep time. We filled in our wait with conversation and chips.
The enchiladas are served on flour tortillas, which, as a personal preference I prefer flour tortillas, but they were still tasty. I sampled all of them and found my favorite-shredded chicken, with the cheese enchilada being a close second. Bryan enjoyed his fajitas and when sneaking a few bites, entirely for test tasting purposes, I discovered I liked them as well. We finished our meal with Flan. It was not to sweet and had a rich caramel sauce on top. The perfect way to end a meal.
Our waitress was friendly and the service was excellent. She checked on us often to keep drinks refilled, offer salsa and chip refills and give suggestions on menu choices, when asked. The prices were reasonable, ranging from $6.50 for several combination platters to $15 (the most expensive menu item) of Shrimp fajitas. The portions were large and my enchiladas could have easily served two people. For anyone who has children (or is a senior), they have a $5 menu, including an entree and drink.
