Triple Chocolate Mocha Chip Crinkle Cookie Recipe

Our church has a ministry called “God’s Helping Hands.” One of the purposes of this ministry is to provide home repairs to the elderly or people who aren’t able to afford them. The church provides this service by using skilled construction workers who volunteer their time. We also cover the cost of the materials used in the repairs. That means sometimes we need to raise money to purchase the materials. One of the ways we do this is bake sales. I received a call from the organizer (and also a good friend) who asked, “If you’re in town this weekend, can you bring a dessert?” After I affirmed I would bring a dessert, she asked, “Okay, great. What are you bringing?” Caught off guard and not wanting to spend an entire day baking, I said, “Um. Cookies? Maybe I can use my Triple Chocolate Mocha Chip Cookie recipe.” This was quickly agreed upon. I hung up the phone with a smile, knowing everyone would appreciate the cookies, but I could make them in a jiffy.

Triple Chocolate Mocha Chip Cookies Recipe

The best part of this recipe is that it starts with a boxed cake mix. I’m all for cooking from scratch. I do it quite often. But I’m not above using the easy semi-homemade way if given a chance. This six-ingredient recipe comes together with minimal prep-time. If you prefer chocolate cookies instead of chocolate mocha cookies, just leave out the coffee extract. I admit that these are not the best looking cookies I’ve ever made, but they taste good and that’s all that matters.

What You Need

1 box (15.25 ounces) Chocolate Cake Mix
1/2 to 1 teaspoon coffee extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 egg
1 container (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping
Powdered Sugar to coat

How to Make It

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place the cake mix in a large mixing bowl.
3. Add the egg, coffee extract, and the frozen whipped topping. Stir until the mixture is combined.
4. Add the chocolate chips and mix until combined.
5. On a sheet of waxed paper, spread enough powdered sugar to cover the paper.
6. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the wax paper and roll cookies until coated with sugar.
7. Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet and flatten with a fork. Bake 8 to 12 minutes or until cookies are done.

Cooking Tips For Triple Chocolate Chip Mocha Crinkles:

*You can make these cookies gluten-free by using a gluten-free boxed cake mix.
*If you are out of powdered sugar, it’s easy to make your own. Just place one cup of regular sugar, along with 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a blender or food processor and blend until powdery.
*Adjust the amount of Instant Mocha Coffee Creamer to your preference. Add more for a stronger taste and less for a milder mocha flavor. I just use Maxwell House instant because it’s easy to find in stores.
*For chewier cookies, use a shorter cooking time. For firm cookies, bake a few minutes longer.
