We SheCon’ed It!

In May I attended my first blogger conference, Shecon 2012.  It was a trip filled with excitement and adventure and not just because I drove my daughter’s car. We had never had trouble  before,  but the minute I crossed the Florida line,  it broke down.   Three  break downs and several costly car repairs later, I managed to arrive at Disney.  Special thanks to the  friendly  tow truck driver who drove  me the first day!

Attending a Blogger Conference is a not to be missed experience. Meeting bloggers  and connecting “in real life” and learning new blogging tips and tricks is invaluable. While attending the Fit N Fresh Subway event, I got my first “tattoo”- an airbrushed version of Tigger .  He’s so real my teenage daughter asked me if  what I had been doing at the conference.  The auto repair guy also liked the tattoo enough  to ask me out for coffee. (No, I didn’t go.)

My new “tat “

While visiting the sponsors hall, I got a kick out of meeting the College Hunks. If I had known movers looked like these guys I would have been packing our bags and moving from place to place years ago.  The hunks gave me a “Future Hunk” t-shirt for the nine year old that he’s been wearing proudly since I arrived home.  Barb from Rural Mom shared the experience with me.

I helped set up the gifting suite  hosted by Real Mom Media and participated in a twitter party for some awesome swag and prizes. Sam from Have Sippy Will Travel hosted the twitter party while Melanie from 2 Boys+1Girl=One Crazy Mom made pictures of the winners.

On Friday evening we attended the Party hosted by the Wine Sisterhood .  The Elk’s Club was hosting their own convention and kept wandering into our party to see what was happening. The Elk’s looked to be having a pretty fun party of their own. When I looked over the banister at their party they were auctioning off guys.  Before the party we were treated to massages and makeovers in the Chic Suite.

We finished the conference with a twitter treasure hunt at Downtown Disney. My daughter snapped the shot of us and complained about people getting mad and shoving her out of the way while she tried to snap it.  There’s Jodi, Barb,  Sam, Theresa (the “cupcake” lady at Making It All Work-seriously, if you are going to Blogher stop by and try her cupcakes), Grace of Blessed Elements and me.

For anyone visiting Disney DownTown be sure to check out the Lego statues. I was amazed at the detail used on these figures.

We finished off our evening at Ragland’s, a traditional Irish pub with an Irish band and dancers.

I’ll be attending Blogher in NYC this year and look forward to meeting lots of new people. I can’t wait to attend another conference.  Thanks to Sam at Have Sippy Will Travel for generously sharing photos after my camera went dead.
