Valentine’s Day Chocolate Almond Candies Recipe

Do you want to surprise your sweetie with a special treat this Valentine’s Day? I do. I spend a lot of time trying to think up recipes my family will enjoy. But, here’s a secret; I prefer for them to be easy treats. If they think I fussed -even though I didn’t-and want to take me out to dinner, even better. I’m all for it.  These cute Valentine’s Day candies take only two ingredients, minimal prep time, and are no bake. What could be better? You can use any sort of mold you would like, but these were made in a Wilton mold shaped like lips, making it easy to tell you S.O. you’re giving them kisses.  Did I mention they are gluten free so the entire family can enjoy them?

All you need to make the lips is almond butter, or any nut butter of your choice, and candy melts. You can use red candy melts if you prefer.

Melt the chocolate using your preferred method. I like to melt mine in the microwave for 45 seconds, stir, and return to the microwave for another 45 seconds.  Stir until smooth, then coat the sides of your molds with the melted chocolate.  Place the chocolate in the freezer until mixture is harden. This shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes.

Once the chocolate is hardened, add a spoon of the nut butter into the mold. Spread chocolate over the top of the mold and return to the freezer to harden.

Voila! In less than 30 minutes and with only two ingredients, you’ve got a fancy treat.  If you prefer to use another mold, such as hearts, you can add sprinkles to the top of the candies for added color.

Ingredients
  • 6 ounces white or red chocolate candy melts
  • 3/4 cup nut butter of your choice (almond, peanut, etc)
  • Optional; Sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Melt the chocolate mixture in the microwave for 45 seconds. Stir. Return to microwave for 45 more seconds. Stir until melted. Spread melted chocolate in bottom and sides of mold. Place in freezer until hardened. Remove from freezer and add a teaspoon of nut butter to each mold. Top with melted chocolate and return to freezer to harden.
