Winter seems to have settled in to stay. The days are short and gloomy and the freezing temperatures keep us inside. Staying cooped up in close quarters with friends, family or work colleagues means one thing; plenty of germs to spread around. I spend a lot of my time thinking, “Do NOT share your cold/flu/sniffly, sneezy bug with me.” Thankfully, for the last three months I’ve been testing the Holmes Smart Air Purifier with WeMo technology. Since I have used the Air Purifier almost daily for the past three months, I’m able to give you the scoop on what I have learned.
Ease of Use: Once the WeMo App was downloaded, I could check the air quality and turn on the Air Purifier from anywhere, making it convenient to turn on and off whether I was home or not. The App was easy to install, walking me through the process. The installation process, including checking to make sure everything worked correctly, took less than ten minutes. The app really does work from anywhere and I can arrive home to a fresh, clean room. One of my favorite features of the app is the air quality indicator. I’m able to tell at a glance when the settings need to be adjusted if the air quality is poor.
Noise level: I was surprised at how quietly the WeMo air purifier runs. While it is noisier when on medium or high, when it is on low I forget it is running. I often go to turn it on and realize it is already doing its job!
Allergen Removal: The true Hepa Allergen filters remove pollen, dust, mold, pet dander and smoke particles as small as two microns. I can honestly tell the difference when I step into my office where I use the purifier. The air smells fresher and the entire room feels cleaner. This is especially important with a horde of cats. It significantly reduces the pet hair. The replacement filters are reasonably priced and easy to install.
Overall, I have been pleased with the Holmes Smart Air Purifier with WeMo. It is a little pricey, at around $200, but with my daughter and her rare diseases, I am thrilled to know the improved air quality can help combat some of her nasal symptoms.
