To say the animals in our family are spoiled would be an understatement. I’m pretty sure they think they are little humans, only shorter and furrier. They are not as spoiled as some of my friends’ pets who get bottled water because they don’t like tap water or go to doggie daycare and have play dates, but there have been rumblings among my kids that “the cats are Mom’s favorites,” “Mom will eventually be a crazy cat lady,” and “Rio gets more snacks than we do.”
Naturally when I was offered a chance to review the latest Halloween costumes from PetSmart, I thought, “Why should the kids have all the fun this Halloween?” Because one of the kids’ favorite movies when they were younger was Winnie the Pooh, the moment I saw this Tigger Costume I knew we had to have this one. When it arrived we tried it on Mitzie, the cat, first. She wasn’t exactly sure what was going on, but let’s just say that putting Tigger costumes on a cat comes with a risk. When we tried it on Rio he was confused at first. He seemed to think we had put a toy on his back and raced in circles trying to catch Tigger’s tail. After the initial tail chasing, he wore the costume around the house without complaint until I took it off of him to go outside.
Rio was also the proud recipient of two Martha Stewart Halloween toys. Rio is tough on toys, often demolishing them to shreds within the first day, ripping out the squeakers on the inside and carrying them to a secret hiding place. He also likes to hang on to them with his teeth while someone tries to take them away. I am happy to say these two toys are still going strong after a week and seem to be made of very sturdy material, especially the toy with the tennis ball, which is his favorite. I do think he will probably chew up the other one. He is still looking at us disdainfully if we try to throw them and have him retrieve them.
Do you have any spoiled pets in your family? How do you spoil your pets?
