As it gets closer to Halloween, I want to treat the kids to some fun Halloween treats they can’t have any other time of the year. Seriously. How often during the year can I get away with sticking zombie hands in the kid’s food? Only in October. Since this month has been packed with activities, health problems, and travel, the treats I make have to be super simple. I couldn’t get a recipe much easier than this Zombie Blood Jello Recipe. With only three or four ingredients, you’ll be able to whip up a batch of these treats with minimal prep time. That’s my kind of cooking!
Zombie Blood Jello Recipe
This simple recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free which makes it perfect for Halloween parties when you have to be allergy-conscious. You can add zombie body part candies to the top of the gelatin or you can use plastic skeleton hands. Either way, it’s a cool and refreshing treat.
Here’s what you need to make it
*1 box (3 ounces) lime gelatin
*water or lemon-lime soda
*cherry flavored syrup, like Torani
*zombie gummy candies, zombie suckers, or plastic skeleton hands
Here’s how to make it
*Mix the gelatin as directed on the package.
*Pour gelatin into clear containers-8 ounce mason jars work well. Tip: Only fill the jars 2/3 full or they will overflow later when the syrup is added.
*Place the gelatin into the fridge and allow to set until partially firm. Tip: Check after about an hour.
*Using a funnel, pour cherry syrup into partially set gelatin. The syrup should set to look like congealed blood.
*Place the gelatin back into the fridge until firm.
*Top with plastic skeleton hands, zombie suckers, or zombie gummy candies before serving.

Cooking Tips:
*I used plastic skeleton hands I found at the dollar store, but I’ve also seen cute Zombie finger lollipops at the dollar store too.
*If you want the gelatin to have a fizzy flavor, substitute lemon-lime soda.
*Diet gelatin and diet soda will work in this recipe.
*You can find cherry flavored syrup in the drink mixers section of most big box stores and some grocery stores. Feel free to substitute your favorite red syrup (strawberry, raspberry) for the cherry if you prefer.
