Does Christmas seem to sneak up on you? Me too! One day it is June and I am planning a vacation. Then, BOOM! it’s time to plan for the holidays. Although I love to decorate for the holidays, it never works out the way I have envisioned. I have grand plans for creating the picture perfect magazine spread throughout my house. I could spend hours (if I had hours!) pouring over Southern Living Christmas layouts and planning the ultimate Christmas decor. But, honestly, the fancy decorating never happens. I find myself running out of time or worrying whether the cats and kids will break the fancy decor. I usually decide, “I could just make some easy decorations instead!”
I found this tutorial for an Easy DIY Snowman Christmas Centerpiece idea in a long forgotten Christmas decor book I discovered in my bookcase. When I realized I could make it in around five minutes, I thought, “Let’s do this!” Not only does it make my table look festive, it’s low cost, and can be personalized to suit individual tastes. I found everything I needed either in my Christmas supplies basket or at the Dollar Store. Hooray for easy Christmas table centerpieces! It’s one less thing I have to worry about when I’m decorating. Plus, these are simple enough young kids can help make them.
How to Make An Easy DIY Snowman Christmas Centerpiece:
Since these Centerpieces can be personalized, adapt them to your taste. Don’t want snowmen? Use mini Santas, Reindeer, or your favorite Christmas decor. The possibilities are endless.
You’ll Need These Supplies:
two (or four, depending on the size of your table) glass canisters
fake “snow” (I picked this up at the dollar store) OR Epsom Salts
small decor items for the inside of the jar (I used small Christmas trees designed for mini Christmas villages and Snowman Salt and Pepper Shakers from the dollar store)
ribbon and scissors
Directions:
Step 1: Begin by adding 1/2 to 3/4 cup fake snow or Epsom Salts into the bottom of the canister, depending on the size of canister. I used fake snow, but it scatters everywhere. Next time I will use Epsom Salts.
Step 2: Place the small decor items on top of the snow. I nestled in one tree and one snowman in each canister.
Tip: You can personalize these however you want. Add small snowmen, Santas, Reindeer, or scenes to make a Christmas village.
Step 3: Close the lids of the jars and attach a ribbon around the top. Cut the ribbon to fit and either glue into place or just tie into a bow so it stays on the jar.
I was pleased with the results. It’s incredibly simple, yet so pretty!
